No show without punch !
Zaizy wanted to get in on the 'tea making ' so rather than let her near the kitchen knives I decided to let her make a cheats shepherds pie ! ( which is actually cottage pie as we used beef mince instead of lamb mince )Â
It was delicious so I thought I'd share it incase anyone else wants to get their little
ones cooking the tea too đ
Ingredients ;
Ready diced onion
Frozen beef mince ( could use quorn for veggie variation )Â
Bag of frozen veg ( I had mixed peas, carrot and sweetcorn so threw it all in)
2 beef stock cubes mixed into 500mls of water ( I used cold water )
2 tablespoons of tomato purĂŠe
A slosh of Worcestershire sauce
Bag of frozen mashÂ
Handful of grated cheese ( optional )
Bag of crushed crisps ( optional)
In a pan fry off the onion, mince and veg until cooked throughÂ
Add the beef stock, tomato purĂŠe and Worcestershire sauce
Simmer over medium heat for 20 minutes
In the microwave cook the frozen mashed potato as per instructions - we then added a knob of butter and mashed with a potato masherÂ
Divide the mince mixture between a baking dish or use takeaway containers ( easy way to portion and freeze them đ)
Spread the mash over the top and sprinkle with cheese and crisps if using
Bake at 150 degrees for 30 mins or until cheese has melted and top is browning !
Eat ! Â We had with beetroot and crusty bread đ
It really was simple and if Zaizy can do it with very minimal assistance , anyone can do it !Â
Frozen ingredients didn't affect the taste (we used frozen so she didn't need to chop anything )Â and it was a massive hit in our house !Â
